From the moment you were born you were given a name, a gender, a race, a language, a culture, a whole set of expectations - before you even exhaled your first breath. And simultaneously, you forgot your purpose.
We walk through life continually being convinced to ignore that inner yearning towards purpose-filled living. We are conditioned into forgetting.
To be a human at this moment, at this time, in this place, is a regular test of Spirit. Now is the moment to answer the call of the unbeaten path towards personal and collective freedom.
Now is the time to remember.

Charlotte Duerr James
Charlotte Duerr James is an Educator and Medicine Woman of Afro-Caribbean and Germanic lineage. She works to create a world in which everyone is able to live in fearless pursuit of their radical transformation. She uses her skills as an educator, therapeutic coach, and ceremonial facilitator to build and engage a community focused on pursuing collective liberation.

What’s in a name: the meaning of ‘Mocodi’:
In 2022 I had the honor and privilege of sitting with Iboga, the most well known entheogen from the motherland, Africa. Iboga is known to be a medicine of deep soul connection, ancestral rememberance, and truth-telling. This medicine is held by traditions of different names in present-day Gabon with the most well-known tradition being Bwiti.
During these ceremonies, I was instructed to ask the medicine what my Bwiti name was. When I first asked, the medicine gave a clear ‘not yet’ (Iboga can be a lil cheeky), and so I waited patiently to see if a name might emerge. What started to become clear in that ceremony was the image and sensation of a mountain. After sharing this with my facilitators, they wrote to their elder in Gabon to receive a name (as is their tradition). I was gifted the name ‘Mocodi’ which carries an important meaning and big responsibility.
More recently, I was gifted the opportunity to deeply integrate the teachings received in 2022, and begin to bridge the abundance of this name into our seen realms. To mark this process of solidifying truth, I chose to add the name to my body altar, in reverse, so that the reminder of the strength that comes with it becomes clear to me in the mirror. It is my somatic reminder to trust in the mystery, in my Spirit, and in my Self.
